Happy Thanksgiving blessings from Costa Rica from the Tatums.

We are so very thankful for you and each of our partners.  God has blessed us with such an incredible support team in the States.  We want to thank you for your prayers which are the most important support we can receive from you.

We also want to give an additional thanks to those who partner with us financially.  Sometimes it is difficult to want to talk about this part of ministry but without your financial support, we are unable to live and share the gospel in Costa Rica.

I also wanted to share a little food for thought as we go into the busiest shopping season of the year.  A time filled with overspending, busyness, stress, crowded malls and too often forgetting the real season we celebrate Christmas.

On Thanksgiving Day, we thank God for everything He has provided for us and our families.  Then, on the very next day (and this year even beginning on that day), we spend our time and our money buying everything we apparently think He has not provided.  I wonder if our actions prove our sincerity?

This Christmas season, in the United States, we will spend $450,000,000,000 ($450 billion) on Christmas.  On Black Friday alone, the average person will spend $400.

In the United States, we have a population of 311 million people and 247 million call ourselves Christian.  If only half of those believers gave $100 to local and/or foreign missions (i.e. soup kitchens, homeless shelters, missions serving in other countries, recovery programs, VBS programs, kid's camps, rescue missions, prison ministries, etc.) instead of buying things we don't need, we would be able to further the Father's work with over 12 billion dollars.

Even if just the people who pray and partner with our family in Costa Rica would give $100 dollars to local and/or foreign missions instead of buying some of the gifts that we don't really need, we would be able to further God's work with over $50,000.

It's just something for us all to think about.  There is a quick, little video that you can watch at: http://vimeo.com/50320595 .  It is by an organization whose focus is designed to get us to slow down and experience a Christmas worth remembering.

Once again, thank you for your prayers and partnership and have a very Happy Thanksgiving.

God bless and have a wonderful day.
