Conexion Expedition Weekends

Our ministry work here in Costa Rica uses several different branches that support the main tree to share the message of love and grace through a relationship with the one and only Jesus Christ.   Our Mission Society Vision Statement states it well:

The Kingdom of God advancing among all peoples,
bringing about redemption and reconciliation through Jesus Christ.

 If you have been reading our newsletters for awhile, you are aware of many of those branches and if your are relatively new to our newsletters, our June 2012 Newsletter  gives a good summary of some of those branches.

A very powerful tool is the use of our monthly Conexion Expedition Weekends.  We have found that often times, especially in more remote and rural areas, the local church is really left to fend for themselves with very little to no support.  Many of these churches yearn and are praying for help in the areas of outreach and teaching.

We use our Conexion Expedition Weekends in these remote, rural and often times overlooked and neglected areas of Costa Rica to come alongside these churches and partner with them in outreach to their communities.  We also use this time to help teach and train these local churches in how to more effectively reach out to their neighbors and how to develop the programs that we use over the course of the weekend.

These typical weekend consists of:
     1)    Hosting medical and dental clinics over the course of the weekend.  As people sign up for medical treatment, we are able to obtain contact information that is then shared with the church.  This contact list is a powerful instrument for the church to use for continued ministry opportunities;
     2)    Teaching discipleship and Bible classes;
     3)    Teaching various Workshops on Marriage, Health and Nutrition, Sexual Education and Parenting
     4)    Hosting Kid's Clubs;
     5)    Hosting Youth Programs;
     6)    Free Haircuts;
     7)    Family and Personal Counseling;
     8)    Showing a movie to the community with a Christ-centered message;
     9)    Praise and Evangelism Concerts.

The heart of these weekends is to share the message of a loving and gracious Jesus with the community and by strengthening the presence of the local church.  We accomplish this by emphasizing most importantly, the spiritual health as well as the physical and emotional health of the people of the community and then by teaching the leaders of the church on how to do the same.

Romans 12:1-2 (MSG)

So here's what I want you to do, God helping you:  Take your everyday, ordinary life-your sleeping, eating, going-to-work and walking-around life-and place it before God as an offering.  Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him.  Don't become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking.
Instead, fix your attention on God.  You'll be changed from the inside out.  Readily recognize what he wants from you and quickly respond to it.  Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-informed maturity in you.stead, fix your attention on God.  You'll be changed from the inside out.  Readily recognize what he wants from you and quickly respond to it.  Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-informed maturity in you.
