Newsletter Update from Beth, Bryan and the triplets, aka the Tatum Family

In our daily devotional and study time, the five of us have been talking a lot lately about the love of God.  Specifically, we have been talking about His love for the entire world and His clear calling and directive for our family to be serving the children and families of Costa Rica.

But, for our family to serve here in Costa Rica, we need you, our partners in the fulfillment of the Great Commission.  Our family thanks you for your prayers, partnership and support.  We are a team, the body of Christ, working together and serving together.

Over the last couple of months, the Father has been fine tuning His direction for our continued work in Costa Rica.  In future newsletters, we will be sharing more about the specific parts of His ministry that He has called us to.   But, today, we wanted to take this opportunity to give an overview of His calling and directive of our work to share the Gospel in Costa Rica.

Our work with Conexion Ministries has continued to grow.  We have several different areas of ministry that we focus on in Conexion ranging from monthly revival weekends, medical ministry, construction, sports camps to our work in the public schools.  And, we have been blessed with a home that has a large garage area so we also host Conexion trainings, band rehersals and Bible studies.

 One area of ministry that we are very excited about is the work in the public schools.  The Father continues to open doors for us to share the gospel in the public schools of Costa Rica and as you might imagine, this is an enormous opportunity and a bit overwhelming.

The reason it is a bit overwhelming is that although Conexion has been working in the public schools for some time now, there has recently been a growing fire of requests from the schools asking us to specifically share biblical principles to the students.  We have always found ways to share about the love of Jesus in the schools but, with most of the schools being public schools, sometimes that has been a tad challenging.

But now, we are getting requests specifically to share about these principles with the kids in an ongoing, in-depth classroom type environment.  This is an answer to our prayers but we are getting way more requests than we can handle.  A huge prayer request right now is for God to bring us more leaders to share the love of Christ with the  children in these schools.

Three other areas of focus for our family are:

                1) Assisting and co-leading the Under the Cross Youth Ministry at our church, The Methodist Church of Sabanilla, Destroying Strongholds;

                2) Co-leading Celebrate Recovery program in the Buen Pastor Women's Prison;

                3) and of course assisting and hosting short term mission teams from the States.

We will share more about all of these ministries in future updates.

Please Pray for These Upcoming Ministry Weekends

Here are two areas where we will be working for the next two weekends.

Martina Bustos Neighborhood in Liberia April 20 & 21, 2012

We will be leaving after school today and taking 45 youth to serve in the neighborhood of Martina Bustos in Liberia, Costa Rica.  This is an area of extreme poverety and extreme temperatures.  Please be in prayer for the youth we are leading and form the children and families that we will be serving in Liberia.  You can watch here a short 2 1/2 minute video here about this mission trip.

Veintiocho Millas (28 Miles) April 27, 28 & 29

For the weekend of April 27, 28 & 29th, we will be hosting a revival / medical weekend in the area of Veintiocho Millas in the providence of Limon, Costa Rica.  This will be a weekend of revival, praise and worship for the community and the local church in Veintiocho Millas as well as a weekend of medical ministry for the community.  You can watch here a short video about the kind of work we do in a typical revival / medical weekend.  **I have not added English subtitles to this video like I often do so this video is entirely with Spanish subtitles...but it is a really good video.

Team Updates

We have been blessed the past few weeks to have the honor to work with teams from Birmingham, AL and from New York City.  Thank you for your work, service and prayers for the children and families of Costa Rica.  We also have a large team coming down in a few weeks for a medical trip that is going to be a huge blessings to the rural communities where we will be working.

Isaiah 58:10-11

10) Work hard to feed the hungry people.
     Satisy the needs of those who are crushed.
   Then my blessing will light up your darkness.
     And the night of your suffering will become as bright as the noonday sun.
11) I will always guide you.
     I will satisy your needs in a land that is baked by the sun.
     I will make you stronger.
   You will be like a garden that has plenty of water.
     You will be like a spring whose water never runs dry.
